Rhetorical Criticism Essay Topics For StudentsRhetorical criticism essay topics are not easy to come by. It seems as though topics on today's society will be banned and then immediately replaced with other topics. But when students talk to each other about what they would like to see on a topic, the choices tend to stay the same. One of the hardest things for instructors to come up with is a way to draw from the collective wisdom of their students in order to find topics that are relevant and intriguing.
Perhaps a good lesson to take from our current political and current events environment is that a lot of people want change and are unhappy with the status quo. It doesn't make sense to provide them with an endless series of topics because they will get bored of them. Instead, we should try to look at past issues to see how we can use them to inspire current students. One thing that professors could do is to consider how past events in the past were used to encourage people to think about the things they need to consider when deciding if a certain type of policy is the right one for them. The examples could be anything from following the old adage of 'vote with your dollar' to the ways that President Nixon sought to manipulate the American people in his election campaign in 1968. Students can use this information to show them how this type of manipulation is not a good idea. Of course, that isn't the only lesson to take from past issues in the past, but it certainly seems to be a theme that many people can relate to and be encouraged by. Some students might feel that they don't have the ability to think about the future in the same way that previous generations did. They may not feel that they have enough information or experience to know what to do or think about in regards to future issues, even if they do have a good grasp of the present issue. However, they may have the ability to use the past to motivate themselves and help them think more clearly about the current issues they face. Past issues can be used to help students understand and be inspired by the issues they face today. This can help them to better understand the need for change in society and to motivate them to get involved in local politics and the things that are important to them. A good classroom text for these types of lessons can draw from some current issues. Those students who found it hard to be inspired by past issues could find it easier to think about and discuss current issues. Other students may feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of different issues that currently exist and this could help them figure out which issues are important to them and which ones they can ignore. Sometimes these topics could even be based on questions about political ideologies. Students can ask their instructors about this and their instructor could take the student's beliefs and start a debate about the real meaning of those beliefs. There may be others in the class who agree with them and who will be able to provide arguments in support of the professor's claims. Questions about political affiliation may seem obvious, but it can be a useful topic to take up and that is especially true when teaching social studies, political science or history. But for those instructors who are new to teaching online classes, a few suggested topics can go a long way to making a classroom discussion relevant and engaging. And most important of all, a professor should always be open to having these discussions in order to provide better opportunities for students to see the point of different political affiliations and learn how to properly promote their beliefs.
